Disney has revealed a teaser trailer for their newest gaming project called Disney Infinity and, while it doesn’t explain much, looks very exciting!
“Disney Infinity unlocks the freedom to play with some of your favorite Disney and Disney/Pixar worlds like never before! You can experience adventures in the worlds of Pirates of the Caribbean, The Incredibles and Monsters University – take on the role of Sulley, the naturally gifted ‘scarer’; become Captain Jack Sparrow, the sword-wielding pirate; or transform yourself into Mr. Incredible, one of the world’s greatest crime-fighters. Battle enemies, solve puzzles, overcome obstacles and complete a variety of other unique quests.”
That game seems to have a real world toy component with little figures you can purchase to bring into the game, a la Skylanders.
You can also create your own world, unlock virtual toys, characters, buildings, weapons, gadgets, etc. You can then bring them into the virtual toy box and mix them up to create your own game.
You can create virtually any adventure you want and share what you’ve created with friends. The game will support up to 4-player co-op play.
The video also showed off characters from Wreck-it-Ralph, Toy Storey, Cars, Nightmare Before Christmas and Phineas and Ferb.
Disney Infinity will be available in Summer 2013 and will be released on all major platforms (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Wii U, 3DS). The game doesn’t appear to be slated for release on either PSP or PSVita.
