It would have been cool to just have a custom character in Dragon Ball XenoVerse, but what makes it even better is being able to spend your Zeni on additional costume pieces that include stat altering changes. The game seems to feature 450 costume items or more, plus it seems additional goodies will become available via four planned DLC packs.

Take a deeper look inside Dragon Ball XenoVerse’s costume choices. Continuing our DBXV coverage, today we take a look at gear you can equip and purchase.

Here we go. So last time we touched on how cool it seems that you can change the color of your gear in Dragon Ball Xenosaga when you’re initially creating your character. Well, it turns out you can indeed change the color of some costume items you buy in game as well! These options, when available, allow you to change your item colors with the same large palette as shown in the character creator.

DragonBallXV-CostumeColor

Check that out! So dispite not being able to change the Goku shirt in this one, you can alter two colors on the pants, one for this set of gloves, and three on the boots. It looks like accessories can’t have their colors changed however, at least from this build of the game that was posted by YouTube user Rhymestyle of the same channel name. It’s quite cool just how much freedom this offers gamers to customize their characters. Lets look at some of that gear and what exactly is going on.

DragonBallXV-CustomizeEquipment

From what we can tell of this equipment screen capture which can be accessed from the pause menu it seems, you can collect lots of goody options to customize your hero. On the right we see the ‘equips to’ boxes which detail what character can wear what gear. It looks like the Ginyu Force Battle Suit can be worn by any class it seems. These battle suits couldn’t have their colors altered in the build we saw. Both Rhymestyle’s channel and PS360HD2’s Namco Bandai stream that they shared showed that some items can’t have their colors changed. Also displayed above is the effect the selected gear has on stats, as well as some descriptive text which is a nice addition.

DragonBallXV-AccessoriesShop

As seen here in the accessories shop which is separate from the costume shop, the current items available are sunglasses made popular by the Turtle Hermit as well as a selection of scouters. Also, scouters are actually useable in combat. It sounds like if you hold right on the D-pad you can scan your enemy. Of course being a multiplayer title, they’ll still be racing towards you ready to clobber your fighter.

If you’d like to see Rhymestyle’s video detailing some costume changes and purchases, you can view the video below.
