Convention season is heating up and at the end of the month there will be another entry to prepare for. EGLX, the Enthusiast Gaming Live Expo, is set to kick off on April 29th for a three day weekend of gaming goodness. Billed as the greatest gaming spectacle in Canadian history, EGLX is setting out to be Canada’s first foray into the world of large-scale gaming conventions.

The convention will have the staple of any good festival. The event will be stacked with online celebrities, cosplay, tabletop games, arcades, a family zone, parties, as well as tons of vendors and shops. There will also be game indie game developers on hand at the event from Toronto’s indie scene. You may even get some hands on time to try some new and unreleased titles.

And of course the core of most gaming conventions are the gaming tournaments. Games in the tournaments include Hearthstone, Halo 5, Super Smash Bros., League of Legends, and Street Fighter V among others.

There will even be a more casual tournament featuring Indie games like Runbow. And for those who want to just play some games and not actually compete in a tournament there will be a free play section all weekend for some Mario Kart 8, Duck Hunt, and Just Dance among others.

The convention takes place from Friday, April 29th thru Sunday, May 1st at The International Centre in Mississauga. There are various ticket prices depending on whether you want to enter tournaments or just want to take it all in, but general admission for the weekend will run you $49 if you pre-register or $60 at the door. You can also purchase single day passes, with the Saturday prices running $35 or $45 at the door.

EGLX is being hosted by Enthusiast Gaming, a Toronto-based organization with the goal of bringing all of Canada’s gaming communities together through small events and large annual conferences/conventions.
