Nintendo has successfully defended their Nintendo Wii product in a recent lawsuit lodged against the video game manufacturer.<\/p>\n
Impulse Technology had brought the lawsuit against Nintendo alleging that Nintendo’s Wii console, Wii Remote controller, Wii Balance Board accessory and Wii Fit Plus software infringed one of Impulse’s patents (U.S. Patent No. 5,524,637). <\/p>\n
After Judge James Gwin of the U.S. District Court in Cleveland made an unfavorable decision against the plaintiffs Impulse abandoned their lawsuit.<\/p>\n
“We are very pleased with the court’s ruling, which forced Impulse to walk away from this lawsuit,” said Richard Medway, Nintendo of America’s deputy general counsel.<\/p>\n
“Nintendo vigorously defends patent lawsuits when we firmly believe that we have not infringed another party’s patent. We will continue our tradition of developing unique and innovative products while respecting the intellectual property rights of others.”<\/p>\n
Patent lawsuits aren’t uncommon with Apple and Samsung having a recent legal battle over their smartphone lines. This is great news for Nintendo as they can focus their full attention to the holidays shopping season and the launch of the Wii U.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
