Nearly four years after the release, Nintendo is releasing a free update for the game.<\/p>\n<p>The update, which will come this November, will bring amiibo functionality to the game.<\/p>\n<p><em>Animal Crossing: New Leaf<\/em> will support all four series of <em>Animal Crossing<\/em> amiibo cards, which consist of 400 cards in total. According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendo.com\/amiibo\/games\/detail\/animal-crossing-new-leaf-3ds\" target=\"_blank\">amiibo website<\/a>, tapping an <em>Animal Crossing<\/em> amiibo card to your game will prompt the villager on the card to visit your town. They may even move in!<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->All of the <em>Animal Crossing<\/em> amiibo figures, which were released for <em>Animal Crossing amiibo Festival<\/em> on the Wii U, will also be compatible with the game. Also, tapping select non-<em>Animal Crossing<\/em> amiibo figures will unlock new items themed to those characters.<\/p>\n<p>Not only that, but in the latest Nintendo Direct it was announced that a new batch of 50 <em>Animal Crossing<\/em> amiibo cards are on the way, which are campers and villagers that are new to the game.
