{"id":14776,"date":"2018-11-10T13:33:34","date_gmt":"2018-11-10T18:33:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.darkainarts.com\/gamers\/?p=14776"},"modified":"2018-11-10T21:11:06","modified_gmt":"2018-11-11T02:11:06","slug":"netflix-support-for-wii-to-end-in-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.darkainarts.com\/gamers\/2018\/11\/netflix-support-for-wii-to-end-in-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Netflix support for Wii to end in 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.darkainarts.com\/gamers\/2018\/11\/youtube-finally-arrives-on-nintendoswitch\/\">YouTube<\/a> app just being released this week for the Nintendo Switch also comes the news that Netflix service will be ending for the Nintendo Wii in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>As first reported on <a href=\"https:\/\/old.reddit.com\/r\/nintendo\/comments\/9vgmzx\/nintendo_suspending_streaming_services_on_wii\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reddit<\/a> from a Netflix email, Wii will no longer be supported for Netflix. Unfortunately, Nintendo will suspend all video streaming services on Wii &#8211; including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendo.com\/consumer\/systems\/wii\/en_na\/netflix.jsp\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Netflix Channel<\/a> &#8211; after January 30th, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The Netflix <a href=\"https:\/\/devices.netflix.com\/en\/game-consoles\/wii\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a> no longer lists the Wii (or the <a href=\"https:\/\/devices.netflix.com\/en\/game-consoles\/wii-u\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wii U<\/a>) as a suported device and only shows the Nintendo 3DS as a Nintendo platform for Netflix.<\/p>\n<p>However the email posted on Reddit also states &#8220;We hope you\u2019ll soon enjoy an even better Netflix experience with additional features on a supported device.&#8221; This could be a hint that a Switch release is on the way.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix for Nintendo 3DS was released on July 14th, 2011 while for the Nintendo Wii U was released on November 18th, 2012.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the YouTube app just being released this week for the Nintendo Switch also comes the news that Netflix service will be ending for the Nintendo Wii in 2019.
