The trailer for the first-ever live-action Pok\u00e9mon movie, <strong>POK\u00c9MON Detective Pikachu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To be honest this movie dropped off my radar. After the logo reveal a few months ago I didn&#8217;t think we&#8217;d get a trailer this soon, so when it dropped today I was curious. And now I&#8217;m super excited for the film.<\/p>\n<p><em>POK\u00c9MON Detective Pikachu<\/em> stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular character in the first-ever live-action movie based on the iconic Pok\u00e9mon franchise.<\/p>\n<p>Fans everywhere can now experience Pikachu on the big screen as never before, as a talking detective Pikachu, a Pok\u00e9mon like no other. The film also showcases a wide array of beloved Pok\u00e9mon characters, each with its own unique abilities and personality.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the Nintendo 3DS title which was released earlier in the year, the story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry\u2019s former Pok\u00e9mon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City\u2014a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pok\u00e9mon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world\u2014they encounter a diverse cast of Pok\u00e9mon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pok\u00e9mon universe.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of people have compared Pikachu to Deadpool, which is fair considering the voice behind the electric mouse. I personally loved the Deadpool films so this is fine by me.<\/p>\n<p><em>POK\u00c9MON Detective Pikachu<\/em>\u00a0also stars Justice Smith (\u201cJurassic World: Fallen Kingdom\u201d) as Tim; Kathryn Newton (\u201cLady Bird,\u201d TV\u2019s \u201cBig Little Lies\u201d) as Lucy, a junior reporter following her first big story; and Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe (\u201cGodzilla,\u201d \u201cThe Last Samurai\u201d) as Lt. Yoshida.<\/p>\n<p>Ironically, Nintendo is doing maintenance on the Nintendo eShop tonight so if you were looking to check out and download <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendo.com\/en_CA\/games\/detail\/detective-pikachu-3ds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detective Pikachu 3DS game<\/a> you&#8217;ll have to wait for a little bit. The game may also disappear from stores in the next little while as people look to check out this side game.<\/p>\n<p>The movie looks like it&#8217;s taking place right up to where we are in the mainline games after Sun\/Moon and Ultra Sun\/Moon as Generation VII Pok\u00e9mon can be seen in the trailer.
