Nintendo announced earlier this year<\/a> that they were finally getting into mobile gaming with their first title Miitomo, which confused a lot of fans. So many were puzzled why Nintendo wouldn’t bust out of the gates with a top notch title featuring one of their star characters. No Mario? No Donkey Kong? Why a game featuring Miis?<\/p>\n

The game is being made with mobile-game provider DeNA Co., who aren’t really well known outside of Japan. They used to be a powerhouse of the “feature-phone” era but has struggled to adapt to the rise of the smartphone, just like Nintendo.<\/p>\n

Miitomo, which will be the first of five the pair plan to release by March 2017, has been delayed and is slated to be released in March 2016. They delay has caused some fans and investors to be nervous.<\/p>\n

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, DeNA chief executive Isao Moriyasu urged investors to be patient, noting that the goal of the partnership is to \u201cproduce several big hits so we can build a sustainable business structure, not just rely on one hit.\u201d<\/p>\n

All of the games currently in development with Nintendo are free to play, meaning that in-app purchases will be needed to generate revenue. For Miitomo<\/em>, Mr. Moriyasu has revealed that users will be able to buy clothing for their avatars.<\/p>\n
