Pok\u00e9mon Rumble World<\/em> for the Nintendo 3DS was released as a free-to-start title in the eShop just over a year ago. Released on April 8th, 2015 the game finds players battling and befriending more than 700 Pok\u00e9mon, including some that Mega Evolve! You\u2019ll travel on your hot-air balloon and battle in 18 different areas with more than 80 stages. The more Toy Pok\u00e9mon you collect, the more ways you have to defeat Toy Pok\u00e9mon you\u2019re facing.<\/p>\n

The game now has a physical retail version. This new retail version contains all the same action-adventure gameplay, and is now available in stores at a suggested retail price of $29.99.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe love giving our fans as many purchase options as possible,\u201d said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America\u2019s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. \u201cPlayers that love collecting physical games and all things Pok\u00e9mon will now be able to add Pok\u00e9mon Rumble World to their Nintendo 3DS collection.\u201d<\/p>\n

Using the StreetPass, SpotPass or \u201cCall Someone Online\u201d features (which, excluding StreetPass, require a wireless Internet connection), players can invite fellow players\u2019 Mii characters into their castle town to assist them by providing helpful items. Players can even customize their Mii characters with outfits and a custom message.<\/p>\n

In the package version, you’ll obtain 3,000 Pok\u00e9 Diamonds and a Pok\u00e9 Diamond Digger at the in-game shop after the tutorial ends. The Pok\u00e9 Diamond Digger will give you 40 Pok\u00e9 Diamonds every day. Additionally, you’ll be able to pick up Pok\u00e9mon VIP Cards in the in-game shop. The Balloon VIP card lets you inflate any hot-air balloon for just one Pok\u00e9 Diamond. <\/p>\n

There are no in-game purchases in the package version of Pok\u00e9mon Rumble World<\/em>. You can’t transfer saved data between the free-to-download and package versions of Pok\u00e9mon Rumble World, but StreetPass and SpotPass functionality will work between the two games. <\/p>\n

This seems to be the exact opposite of what most companies do with games, but there obviously has been some interest in the game aside from the micro-transaction heavy concept of free-to-start games. If you haven’t played the game yet or are wary of micro-transactions for your child, this may be the way to go.<\/p>\n

The game is available now in stores. Ironically you can’t purchase this version of the game in the Nintendo eShop.<\/p>\n
