Terraria Coming To Xbox Live / PSN in 2013

Drawing many comparisons to Minecraft when it was first released, Terraria takes block building fun in a new direction with side scrolling action. The new version of Re-Logic’s wonderful platformer is being helped by 505 Games for a PSN and Xbox Live Arcade release early next year!

The down side is that some longtime fans feel let down by this decision. With the new version getting original content, it leaves PC gamers who were used to occasional updates wanting their game to be upgraded.

There hasn’t been news of a PC release for this new content yet. I’ve been a fan of Terraria since the start and it’s definitely worth giving a go. The biggest downside I see if the new update doesn’t reach PC games is that I’ll have to start my huge worlds I’ve been exploring and forging new gear in all over again on the console release. With a bunch of friends, which I assume the new version will be as multiplayer focused, that task shouldn’t be a problem.

That all being said though, I’m proud of Re-Logic. They’ve made something very enjoyable and anything that promotes this brand further is great news to me. Anything that promises more Terraria action sounds great to me! I can’t speak for the latest update on the PC release, but earlier versions did require a bit of work around to get multiplayer to work. With console releases it makes that portion of the game accessable to everyone.

Terraria lets you customize your adventurer, set out into a fantasy world, and pretty much play how you want. You can explore the depths and collect resources like the classic ‘VGA Miner,’ or you can spend your time fighting monsters and collecting resources from them. There are huge boss battles and lots to explore as changes happen around your randomly generated world the further you get into the game.
