[UPDATED] Nintendo Network and eShop Issues

[UPDATE: Dec 28th 3pm ET] Nintendo has stabilised their eShop services and network services this afternoon, but will still be disabling the North American 3DS eShop today from 4pm – 4am as they look to get everything fixed up. Here is the details from Nintendo:

Affected Network Services have stabilized. As we make ongoing system improvements, we will continue to open and close the shops at certain times of the day in each region. This allows access for customers around the world while also enabling ongoing system updates. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your continued support.

Please Note: Nintendo (3DS) eShop access for Nintendo of America Inc. will be unavailable from 4pm-4am ET

Nintendo has delayed the launch of Pokemon Bank and the Poke Transporter today due to high traffic and troubles in the eShop. Here is their statement.

Release of Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter postponed due to a large volume of traffic to the Nintendo Network service
Information:

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company International have postponed the launch of Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter – two software applications that were originally scheduled to launch for Nintendo 3DS on Dec. 27 – due to a large volume of traffic to the Nintendo Network service. Due to the high traffic, players are having trouble setting up Nintendo Network IDs and downloading content in the Nintendo eShop on both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. We truly regret the inconvenience, and wish to reassure everyone that providing a solution is our top priority. We apologize for the delay and thank you for your continued patience.

UPDATE: Nintendo will have the eShop in North America offline from 4pm – 4am ET while they work out the issues.

@NintendoAmerica: We saw some questions about why we’re taking the Nintendo eShop offline between 4 p.m. and 4 a.m. ET and how it will help. The Nintendo eShop will be offline at different times around the world to manage traffic volume until full operation is restored.

I've been playing Nintendo all of my life and have had virtually every Nintendo console ever made. I'm a little bit Nintendo-centric but I'll still bring you a helping of other gaming goodness too. You can also Check me out on Miiverse too.
