As the years have rolled on, NIS has been releasing games that feel more like all out wars than just the usual mischief that overlords sometimes get up to. The Guided Fate Paradox touched on the feeling of impending war and Disgaea 5 drops you straight into the conflict against Void Dark, a demon emperor and his army The Lost. Of course unlike Guided Fate, you’re back in the Netheworlds helping demons and the undead battle for control, just in time for Halloween!
Disgaea 5 has a comfortable mix of new and familiar gameplay, along with a fresh cast of characters including one Overlord who is rumored to be voiced by the announcer from Smash Bros! The game focuses on Killia, a young demon who wants to bring down Void Dark. He seems to be a lone wolf, but quickly begins making alliances with Overlords he meets up with.
