Nintendo is releasing the first Animal Crossing game on the Wii U on Friday. It’s not an AC game at it’s core but looks a lot more like a cross between Animal Crossing and the Mario Party series. And just like recently released Mario Party 10, amiibo can be used in the game.

You can bring your Animal Crossing amiibo figures to life in the game. For launch there are eight amiibo with at least another four on the way. To lauch you’ll have Mabel, Digby, Lottie, Reese, Cyrus, Isabelle, K.K., and Tom Nook available. While you’ll need just one amiibo to play the game there are two packed with the game. Isabelle and Digby. Friends can join in even without their own amiibo, by choosing a villager character to play.

When your game is over, you can save the Happy Points you’ve collected to your amiibo figure. Save enough points up and you can even unlock new costumes for your character. Also the Animal Crossing amiibo cards that you’ve no doubt been collecting can also be used to play more modes and even add characters to your game board. There is a cool video that shows off some of this on the Animal Crossing website that I can’t embed below unfortunately.

And, if your amiibo card has a home design saved to it from the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer game, you can add that character as well as the exterior of the home you designed for them.

Check out below the television commercial from Nintendo of Japan which was just released as well. Stills from the American commercial are below.
