A new stage has been added to the rotation in Splatoon. The new stage, called Piranha Pit, was released for Inklings on December 28th at 9pm ET.
Another stage is on the horizen called “Ancho-V Games” but that level is thus far unreleased. It also may be the final level released for Splatoon.
In an interview with Famitsu magazine, Splatoon Producer Hisashi Nogami detailed that the developers would continue monitor the game to make sure weapons are balanced, but the free content will be coming to an end. And while the DLC will come to a close, Splatfest events will continue on regardless.
“[U]pdates that add rules, stages, weapons, gear, etc. will have the last batch in January 2016. But after January they still will adjust weapons for balance if needed. Events like Splatfests will also continue to be held for the foreseeable future. There are already 14 stages and over 70 kinds of weapons. So if they add even more, it would be hard for players to memorize all of them, especially when considering weapon compatibility with stages.” [ Source ]
Also released recently are two more weapons, the Rapid Blaster Pro Deco and the Tri-Slosher Nouveau which have been added to the game.
